MEHEM supports member organisations in delivering the promises of the National Plan for Music Education to children and young people across the East Midlands.
It aims to provide high-quality music education and support within the region's diverse communities, inspiring all children and young people to sing and play musical instruments while developing their talents through progressive pathways. Through diverse partnerships, MEHEM promotes high achievement and works to transform lives through music.
The organisation is committed to providing opportunities for musical excellence to flourish and ensuring access for all children and young people, including those who are hard to reach or facing challenging circumstances. By engaging with highly skilled and experienced partners, MEHEM reflects the musical diversity of the East Midlands and fosters sustainable pathways to nurture musical talent.

Why we do what we do
Young people’s voices are at the heart of understanding the real value of music education.
Across the East Midlands, pupils from a wide variety of schools and settings have shared their personal reflections on what music means in their lives today, the ways it nurtures and supports them, and the role they believe it will play in shaping their futures.
Their perspectives come together in a powerful film that captures both the immediacy of their experiences and the deeper significance they attach to music as part of who they are and who they aspire to become.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusions
Music Education Hubs East Midlands (MEHEM) is developing a region-wide EDI collaborative strategy to take immediate action to improve outcomes for all young people across our area.
This strategy focusses on building an inclusive culture through a diverse workforce, ensuring inclusive representation at all levels, and offering tailored EDI development opportunities for all stakeholders.
